Kortrijk, 2025
Abby Kortrijk, a visual arts museum designed by Barozzi Veiga and Tab Architects, has won a Henry van de Velde Award 2026 in the Spaces category, recognising outstanding architectural design with societal impact.
The project introduces a new volume for the museum that establishes a subtle dialogue with the historic Abbey, blending contemporary architectural expression with the existing context. Its façades feature steeply inclined, sculptural planes that create a monolithic and abstract presence, while a refined material palette, including recycled bricks, ensures both aesthetic quality and sustainability.
xmade contributed with its technical expertise in the façade design, ensuring that these complex forms, material choices, and construction techniques were realized with precision.
