La nova residència d'estudiants Vita del Poblenou està situada al districte 22@ i s'integra amb el patrimoni industrial que l'envolta. La voluntat del projecte d'integrar-se plenament en el context urbà es manifesta en una façana intrincada i vibrant. Les finestres, dissenyades per obrir-se i convertir-se en espais útils, serveixen d'interfície entre l'edifici i la ciutat. El disseny de la façana igualment evoca a elements de les antigues fàbriques del barri que, per la gran concentració industrial de finals del segle XIX, es coneixia com el “Manchester català”. La complexitat del volum, un bloc horitzontal de sis plantes i una torre de tretze pisos situada a la cantonada d'un bloc de l'Eixample, contrasta amb la textura geomètrica i repetitiva de les façanes.
Aquestes façanes eminentment minerals, es construeixen amb una seqüència de capes especialitzades amb el maó com a capa exterior de gran longevitat i mínim manteniment. Els panys d’obra es construeixen amb diversos ordres i gruixos per convertir-se en una capa exterior auto-portant gràcies a la repetició rítmica de pilastres. L’aparell del maó i la profunditat de la façana juntament amb la posició endarrerida de les finestres generen també una rica seqüència de plans i ombres lineals. Els pisos superiors del volum amb els dormitoris, despleguen una relació sostenible en favor de les superfícies massives ben aïllades sobre les vidriades, que disposen en les orientacions més solicitades, d’una protecció solar exterior. A la Planta Baixa, en canvi, es privilegien les superfícies transparents, potenciant l'intercanvi entre la ciutat i el programa públic interior proposat.

The new Vita student residence in Poblenou is located in the 22@ district and it blends into the surrounding industrial heritage. The project willingness to integrate fully into the urban context is manifested in an intricate and vibrant façade. The windows, designed to open up and become useful spaces, serve as the interface between building and city. Its design evokes elements of the old factories in the neighbourhood, which, due to the large industrial concentration at the end of the 19th century, was known as the “Catalan Manchester”. The complexity of the volume, a six-storey horizontal block and a thirteen-storey tower situated on the corner of a Eixample block, contrasts with the geometric and repetitive texture of the façades.
These eminently mineral facades are built with a sequence of specialized layers with brick as the outer layer, with great longevity and minimal maintenance. The masonry walls are built with various orders and thicknesses to become a self-supporting layer thanks to the rhythmic repetition of pilasters. The brickwork and the depth of the facade together with the recessed position of the windows also generate a rich sequence of planes and linear shadows. The upper floors of the volume with the bedrooms display a sustainable relationship in favour of the well-insulated massive surfaces against the glazed surfaces, which have an external solar protection in the most challenged orientations. On the other hand, transparent surfaces are privileged on the Ground Floor to enhance the exchange between the citizens and the public interior program that has been proposed.
